The Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Coimbatore Region, Coimbatore, visited the college on 08.01.2018.

Student Enrichment Programme for Students of English Literature -organized by the Department of English on 08.01.2018. Dr M. G. Priya from Amrita Vishwa Vidhyabeetham, Coimbatore, delivered a special lecture on "Tagore's Gitanjali."

The IQAC conducted a FDP on 18.01.2018. The experts from Integrated Enterprises briefed the staff on various e-services, tax planning and saving, and the benefits of ELSS.

The department of Commerce conducted a viva voce for the award of the degree of the doctory of philosophy in Commerce to Ms A. Karthikeyani. Dr R. Gopi, Supervisor, and Dr G. Vasantha, External Examiner, convened the viva voce on 19.01.2018.

Electoral Literacy Club was inaugurated on 19.01.2018. The nodal officers, Dr Senthilnathan, Dr R. Jagadeeswaran and Dr S. Karthikeyan, organized the programme. Dr V. Krishnan and Dr A. Vasudevan run technical sessions for the new members of the ELC and their tutors.

22.01.2018 to 02.02.2018 - Training was conducted for all final year UG and PG students by Mr B. Vigneshkumar, Career Skype.

02.02.2018 - Screen test was conducted to select PG students for coaching for competitive examinations. Coaching was offered to the selected students from 06.20.218 to 23.02.2018.

Intramural sports and games were conducted from 08.02.2018.

Viva Voce was conducted by the supervisors from the departments of Physics, Commerce and Tamil.

24.02.2018 - Department of Chemistry organized an SEP.

Staff sports events were conducted on 23.02.2018 and 24.02.2018.

43rd Graduation Day was held on 13.03.2018.

College-cum-Sports Day was celebrated on 14.03.2018.

Dr I. Mohamed Ali Jaffer and Dr K. Manimaran participated in the workshop on the Digital Action Plan 17 organised by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, on 19.03.2018.

The bursar, Mr G. Singaperumal, was transferred to Government Arts College, Palladam, on 02.04.2018.

National Rankings 2018 were released; GAC UDT stood the 71st; as a government-run college, it stood the 4th; as a rural college, it stood the first.

The ward of Dr A. Pushpalatha, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, took her public viva voce for the award of the degree of the Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics on 04.04.2018.

Staff Meeting was held on 11.04.2018 - A briefing on the standing of the college on the NIRF IR 2018 was made. Feedback was collected from the staff for progress.

The first stage of counselling for admission to UG courses was held from 04.06.18 to 07.06.2018.

The second stage of counselling for admission to UG science courses was held on 11.06.2018.

The department of Statistics conducted an SEP for its students on 22.06.2018. Dr P. Mohan, Formerly Associate Professor and Head, C.B.M. College, Coimbatore, was the resource person.

Admission to PhD (Part Time and Full Time) was held on 22.06.2018.

The third stage of counselling for admssion to BSc Statistics, BSc Botany and BSc Comp. Science was held on 25.06.2018.

The meeting of AQAR coordinators was held on 28.06.18.

Department of Statistics observed Statistics Day on 29.06.2018. Dr M. Latha was the chief guest to deliver a special lecture. Prof. M. Poongkothai delivered a lecture on the importance of statistical studies.

Dr K. Chitra, Principal, was transferred to Government Arts College, Coimbatore. Dr K. Balakrishnan from Kumarapalaym assumed the office of the principal.

Grievance Cell conducted its meeting on 31.08.2018.

Department of English inaugurated its Theatre Troupe and its performance on 04.09.2018. The novel, Jane Eyre, was staged.

Clean Campus Programme was initiated on 05.09.2018. Each department was allotted an area to keep it as clean as possible.

IQAC conducted its meeting of the department IQAC coordinators on 06.09.2018.

The IQAC conducted its internal auditing from 07.09.2018 to 11.09.2018.

Awareness on College's preparation for the process of A & A among students was created during the second hour on 11.09.2018.

Dr V. Krishnan and Dr A. Vasudevan conducted an orientation programme on NAAC and NIRF for the staff of K.G. Collegeof Arts and Science on 22.09.2018.

Grievance Cell conducted its meeting on 26.09.2018. All grievances and requests from students were noted down and steps were initiated to address one by one.

Dr V. Krishnan and Dr A. Vasudevan ran two sessions for the orientation programme organized by the RJD, Coimbatore Region, at Government Arts College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, on 01.10.2018.

IQAC Review Meeting was held on 03.10.2018. Suggestions to update files were presented. Resolutions were made in relation to LMS and I year students' data creation.

Hon'ble Minister for Animal Husbandry, Thiru Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the New Chemistry Laboratory built from the fund of the RUSA on 05.10.2018. Mr C. Mahendran, Member of Parliament, Pollachi Constituency, Dr K. S. Palanisamy, IAS, Collector, Tiruppur District, Dr S. Kala, Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Coimbatore Region, were all present.

One Day Workshop on Experiments in Basic Physics on 27.12.2018 - Organised by the Club of Future Einsteins, Department of Physics, Government Arts College, Udumalpet - Mr Ravi Shanker, Chennai, was the guest speaker.

The Alumni organized a motivational lectures for final year UG and PG students. The alumnus, Mr Nallasenapathy, Member of the Technical National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai, and the alumnus, Mr Parthiban Rangaraj, Agile Solution Delivery Manager, Commonwealth Bank, Sydney, Australia, addressed the students and enlightened them on all avenues of the national and global job market.

Public PhD Viva Voce held on 04.01.18 by the department of Physics - Dr H. B. Ramalingam was the supervisor; Dr P. Palani was the external examiner; and Ms K. Rathina was the research scholar taking the viva voce.

Workshop on Quality Well-Being Through Physical Education and Participation in Sports was held on 10.01.2019 by the Department of Physical Education.

Dr C. Pandiarajan, Assistant Professor of Commerce conducted the public PhD viva voce for his ward on 10.01.2019.
